This working group has been initiated to help shape practice around climate change education by helping to guide the development and implementation of relevant learning programs.

Health & Sustainability Education Task Group:
This group has been formed to build on EASO’s involvement in the Health and Physical Education curriculum policy review to establish a forum to advance Health and Sustainability education policy. The aim is to bring together those with expertise in Health Education to identify what essential understanding citizens need in order to make good decisions related to health.

Curriculum Review: EASO participated in the review of the Ontario curriculum for Science 9-12, Health and Physical Education Grades 9 and 10, and Social Sciences and the Humanities 9-12.

BEAN is seeking approvals and funding for its implementation plan for the Ontario Biodiversity Strategy. It is a substantial plan that will set the tone for biodiversity education and awareness efforts for the next three years.

International Biodiversity Day is May 22, 2009. This year’s theme is “Invasive Species”. BEAN is involved by engaging local community groups in action-oriented projects.

BEAN is also engaged with the OTF and the Ministry of Education in the development and delivery of up to six French/English summer workshops in the Camp OTF “Going Green” program.

BEAN is also contributing to the International Youth Symposium on Biodiversity (July 5-9, 2009 in Ottawa, Ontario http://biodiversitymatters.org/), and the 2009 Canon Envirothon (this year’s theme: Biodiversity).

EASO is putting the finishing touches on a promotional brochure, which will soon be ready for distribution and available on the EASO website.
